The American Indian Diabetes Prevention Center is proud to partner with the Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board in its fight against diabetes.
Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board (OCAITHB) is a non-profit organization based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The board was established in 1972 to provide a unified voice for all Indian tribes located in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Board membership includes representatives of 12 service units in US Public Health Service, Indian Health Service Oklahoma City Area and represents all federally recognized tribes in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
The mission of the Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board is to advocate and collaborate for quality healthcare and healthy lifestyles within Native American communities. We seek to maximize resources, abilities and skills while maintaining tribal sovereign rights and independence. The Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board oversees the Southern Plains Inter-Tribal Epidemiology Center whose mission is to improve the health of American Indian/Alaska natives in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas by providing public health services in epidemiology, data management, and analysis, training, health promotion/disease prevention and research through outreach and creative partnerships.
